Starfish Card

FRONT TEXT READS:

Along the beach I walked one day

One alone with little to say

Feeling sad but not knowoing why

I found myself surrounded by

Hundreds of starfish, lying side by side

the remnants of a deadly tide

Overwhelmed and feeling lost

I simply stared, immune to the cost

Then I noticed, far ahead

A boy of eight, bending, stooping and one

by one tossing starfish back toward the sun

Each onewould land and make a splash

home in the sea, home at last

For every one that was returned

hundreds more faced certain doom

The task at hand, a hopeless one

So approaching, with gentle ease,

I asked the boy, if you please,

how one small action could a

difference make?

So much to lose,

so much at stake

Without a pause to slow him hence

he tossed one more and smiled deeply

to this one he said...

"I've made the difference."
